When we get to this point of our publishing, I feel a large weight being lifted from my shoulders. I’m working on the last publication for the year, Not What He Ordered by Laurean Brooks. Laurean has been in our writers group almost from the beginning. Her writing has grown so much over the years, and I’m proud to say that Mantle Rock Publishing LLC will be publishing this book for her. The ebook should be on pre-order before the last of the week. This book is a cute Mail Order Bride book. I’ll tell you more about it next week .
October has been a busy week for us. We went on a vacation earlier this month to our hometowns. Mine is Rogersville, TN, and my husband’s is Shady Valley, TN. We enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Last week I was in Kansas City at Heart of America Christian Writers Network Conference. This was my first time to attend. I taught a class on marketing and talked to several people about their books. Our acquisition editor, Erin Howard, attended with me. It was a long trip, but an enjoyable one.
We are looking forward to 2018. For several years we’ve taken December and January off. Books are not a big market for those months, and we always spend the time getting ready for the next year. Since 2018 looks like a strong year, we need the time to get ready for it.
This has been a great year. I’m looking forward to 2018 and what it will bring us. Already this year we’ve introduced podcasts to our website. We will be doing more in the next year.
During the conference last week someone asked my why I started Mantle Rock Publishing. There are two reasons. 1. New authors were not being accepted by large publishing companies. We saw an opportunity to assist good authors. 2. I don’t like to be told I couldn’t do anything. I’m a strong-willed person and I love a challenge. We’ve had a lot of challenges during the five years we’ve had this business going, and we’ll probably have a lot more. But as long as God gives me strength, we’re going to meet those challenges.
We will be adding another blog on Thursdays for a few months. I enjoy learning about other authors, so we’ll highlight them on Thursdays.
Have a blessed day.
