If your Friday’s are like my Friday’s you’re thanking God for getting you get through the week. It’s sad we live in such a race on time that we have very little time to stop and think about our lives.
When we feel we are in a terrible rat-race, think about King David. He was in the worse rat-race of any kind. King Saul was trying to kill him. He was breathing down David’s neck at times. David had to stay one step ahead of him to keep from being annihilated from the earth. Most of us are not in that situation, or at least I pray no one is, but it can happen. People can have such a grudge against you that they want to kill you.
There are tremendous pulls on our lives each day. We think sometimes we don’t have time for anything. We worry about our homes, our children, our money, our lives in general, but we forget to worry about our souls. Take a few minutes each day to worry about your soul. King David did that in the psalms we read. He not only worried about his soul, but King Saul’s soul. Our bodies are but a shell for our soul. We need time each day to consider our soul. Peace will follow when you do take that time.
Most everyone can repeat from memory Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He leads me by still waters.” Are you letting God lead you today to those still waters. A shepherd has to make sure his sheep has water to drink. Our water is God’s Word, and we must drink of it each day. Not only drink, but study. Know the scriptures. We’re going to have a big test one day. Probably the biggest we’ve ever had in our lives. That test will show whether we go to Heaven or Hell. Personally I want a passing grade, what about you? Are you ready to let God lead you by the still waters of His Word? Take fifteen minutes to study His Word and pray for others. You will be surprised what it will do for you.
This weekend when you are spending time with your family, remember God has blessed you greatly. Remember He is the Shepherd. He looks out for your soul.
