Today I want to talk to you about writing. If you’re a reader and not a writer, this will help you in your every day life.
As a writer we sometimes get bogged down with our every day tasks of posting on Facebook and Twitter. All the different groups to post on takes up most of our time. If we don’t post, we don’t have book sales. What is an author to do?
I’ve thought about this for about twenty-four hours. I’m constantly telling my authors they need to be known in the writing and reading world. It’s hard to do. When I do a podcast one question I ask is, “Why do you write?” Every one has a different answer. But think about it, why do YOU write? Do you write because you feel it’s a ministry for you? Maybe you write to tell a life story. Every author I know has something about themselves in their books. I do, and I don’t feel I’m any different than anyone else. Think about why you write for a moment.
Another question I’ve thought about is, “Do I believe in my story and why I write?” Really! Think about it. This also goes into the part about why you write. But do you really believe in yourself? If you don’t believe in yourself and your writing, it shows. It shows in your blogs, your Facebook, your Twitter, and anything else you write. You will write shallow blogs, etc. if you do not believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself and your writing, you’ll get up each morning eager to get to work. You’ll be anxious to tell someone about what you’ve written.
Remember when you were a teen and had a new boyfriend/girlfriend? You told everyone about him/her. You couldn’t wait to see them again. You’d even leave things undone to talk to them. That’s the way your writing should feel. Think about this today and see if you believe in yourself. To be a successful writer you must believe in yourself.
