Each week I look forward to Friday, and it takes a lot of patience. This week has been extremely hard on me for a number of reasons. The biggest one is I have been ill and not able to do my full potential. I am so blessed to have good neighbors and friends who have encouraged me. Last night our next door neighbor brought over meatballs and homemade spaghetti sauce. It was the real Italian meatballs and sauce, and it was delicious. I’m so thankful they moved next door to us last fall.
What are you planning for your weekend? I’d like to get some yard work in, but it depends on whether we have rain or not. I have a small flower garden in the back of the house, it’s kind of a “secret garden” with flowers I love, calla lilies, a few herbs, and others flowers to bring in a little color. Each morning I enjoy watching the squirrels and birds scampering through the grass. We also have a butterfly bush which brings in hummingbirds and butterflies.
The book I’m writing is also wanting a little more written. It needs to be finished in the next couple of weeks. This is a new adventure for me because I’m writing in a completely different point of view, omniscience. My friend, Sandra Robbins, got me started with it before she passed away. Now I have to finish it for her. It will be dedicated to her memory.
We’re also getting ready for our KenTen Writers Retreat June 11-14. Go to http://kentenwriters.org to find out more. It’s about six weeks away. The contest for The Sandra Robbins Inspiration Award has closed and the coordinator is getting the entries arranged for the judges. The contest has been fun to get together. I’m looking forward to award the winner the first ever Sandra Robbins Inspirational Award. Sandra was such an inspiration to all writers that I want to keep her memory alive.
As I said, it’s been a rough week for me. Our granddaughter had a beautiful recital Sunday afternoon. There was a good crowd attending and her songs were beautiful, even the French, Italian, and German songs. It’s been great to watch her achieve her goals. In a couple of weeks she’ll be graduating from college. Where did the time go?
The next few weeks will be busy before the end of the school year. Then summer if it ever gets warm.
