Revealing new books is always exciting. I thought I’d reveal one today to go on pre-sale, but the printer/distribution company is getting the proof ready as I write. That is always exciting.I wish I could reveal the book now, but I’d rather wait until I know for sure it is on pre-order.
It’s always a toss up when we get a book ready for pre-order. The printer/distribution company doesn’t work on my schedule, but theirs. I want to hurry, but they don’t see my need. Even though we’re trying to get them on pre-order at least six weeks ahead of release, it’s hard for everything to work like we want it to. I hope to have the proof by tomorrow so I can get it going. The cover is beautiful, and the book is exceptional. We hope we can talk about it tomorrow.
Hump Day being as it is, it’s a busy day for me. I’m going over an edit for a book to release in September. I have sixty-nine pages to go. It should be finished by noon if all goes well. My keynote is waiting to be finalized, and I need to finish my presentation for our KenTen Writers Retreat which begins Monday afternoon.
This is going to be so much fun. This is our sixth year. So far everything is going well, except my speeches. It’s been extremely busy lately. I tried to start early, but life got in the way. My plans are to get these finished by this afternoon. Also, my husband and I need to go over our parts in the play we’ll do on Tuesday night. We’ve done these plays for several years now. Everyone seems to enjoy them, and we have enjoyed doing them. This has turned out to be the highlight of our retreat by most folks. The mystery will be solved.
Writing is such an intense profession. We do it alone most of the time. It is very stressful, but it is something most writers enjoy doing. When the joy leaves you, readers know it. Even though they can’t see or hear you, they can sense your happiness when you write. We need conferences and retreats to revive our spirits. It helps us to meet with other authors and have time to talk to them. I’m looking forward to Monday evening when we’ll kick off our retreat. Wish everyone could be there.
