“Home again, home again, jiggity jog.”
I have no idea what that means, but it was something I learned as a child. It has stuck with me like glue. I love modern technology where we can schedule posts to be published when we’re no where around a computer. It’s also good to be home.
KenTen Writers Retreat and Montgomery Bell State Park was wonderful! This year we had several new attendees. I always enjoy meeting new people. The venue couldn’t have been better, although it was a little snaky getting to it. Still when you enter the park all stress rolls off your shoulders. It is so peaceful and relaxing, and that’s what we want our retreat to be.
This year we started a writing contest, Sandra Robbins Inspirational Award. The award was to honor one of our founders of KenTen Writers Group, Sandra Robbins. Sandra passed away in January of this year. She was an inspiration to us, and we wanted to honor her and her devotion to KenTen Writers. Pam Watts Harris, one of Mantle Rock’s editors and authors, placed first. Another of MRP’s authors, Suzanne Bratcher placed third. This was a great honor for our company, but only our writers who attended the retreat realized we were so well represented. Thank you ladies, I am so proud of you.
Each morning we met at nine for a devotional by Diane Turpin, and then on to our program of speakers. I was honored to be the Keynote speaker, and I also gave a presentation on proposals. We had other writers speaking, Patricia Bradley, Susan Page Davis, Linder Fulkerson, Shannon Vannatter, and Patrick Carr. Each lesson was wonderful, and we all learned so much. We also spent time brainstorming during the day. I loved that!
Montgomery Bell State Park has been reserved for next year from June 10-June 13, and we look forward to more fun. The website for KenTen Retreat and KenTen Writers is http://kentenwriters.org. Check it out for more information about the retreat. Make plans to come again next year.
