Do you plan your weekend, or do you do things at the spur of the minute? Most of us probably don’t have weekend plans, but do whatever they feel like doing. At our house from the day we married, we plan church on Sunday, both morning and evening services. That’s one day I don’t want to miss my church family.
This has been a busy week at Mantle Rock Publishing. We’ve released one book this week. We try to schedule two books a month with a week between. So far it’s worked well. We are also with a distribution company that has a program where bookstores all over the nation has the availability to sell our books. This has helped our sales, but new authors seldom get their books on the shelf. You have to have better sales to get your book on shelves of bookstores. That is hard for new authors to understand.
That is one reason why I try to encourage new authors to market their books. You only have a small circle of friends. It may seem large, but it’s usually small. After those friends/family buys your book, who are you going to sell to after that? With over a million books on the market, where does yours stand?
You need to be recognized by other people outside of your circle. Work on Facebook and Twitter. Get friends. You don’t have to talk about your book, but you need to make people aware you are there. It’s so important to be recognized as an author. I’d suggest for everyone to have an author page and write on it. Also, don’t forget your home page. Write posts on it and answer when someone writes a comment. I’ve found this is the best way to be recognized. You have to be seen.
This weekend may be the time to work on these things. Get your writing going. You won’t regret it.Have a great weekend.
