Last week was very busy for us. We have family who live in Scotland, and they visit us every two years. This weekend was their visit. I had a lot of house cleaning to do, plus two of our tiles in the bathroom came up, and the new commode we put in leaked. What a week! We made it and our son helped reset the commode, and it works.
We talk a lot about our families. I love to have all the family together, which usually includes my immediate family. Last summer we were invited to my sister’s for a family day with her family. Some of her grandchildren I hadn’t seen in a long time were there. It was good to get to see them again.
Our nephew who visited us from Scotland is someone I admire. He preaches for a church in East Kilbride, Scotland outside of Glasgow. He’s been there for over thirty years, I think. His wife is Scottish and was raised in East Kilbride. We love to be with them, although sometimes we don’t understand some of the words. It takes me about three days before I’m understanding the accent. After that, I’m good.
With modern technology we’re able to communicate fairly easily. Face Time is great, as is Skype. Of course we use Facebook daily, but it’s good to see them face to face at times.
Now that my house is clean is a good time to have friends over. That something to think about. We have done it in the past, but it’s been a while since we’ve been able to have anyone in for a meal. I enjoy our friends here, and I miss the friends we left in Tennessee.
We should cherish our friends and family. They may leave us quicker than we want them to.
