We can never talk too much about marketing. I know it gets boring, but it is something most of us dread to do. It does have to be done constantly. I like to spend my mornings marketing and my afternoon editing. The afternoon usually goes into the night, but that’s okay. When I need to take a day off I don’t feel guilty.
I’m a little excited today because I have ordered an iPad. For years I’d had a Kindle. In fact I’ve had two Kindles. The oldest one only has books on it, but the last one I got has a lot more. As my eyesight fails, I need to use the Kindle constantly, but I can’t do everything on it that I can do with my Mac. My newest Kindle has just about bit the dust. Some programs won’t come up. I am very dependent on the Kindle at church especially. I use it instead of my Bible. I have it on a large font, I mean a large font. Now that it’s not working, I need something. I’m excited about this. At least my daughter will be with me this weekend to help me learn how to use it. I’m sure it will be a little different.
The iPad will also help me with marketing. Which is one thing I need to do more. How can we do more? If you’ve been following me very long, you know my go to statement. “If you never tell anyone you have a book, no one will buy it.” I do believe this statement with all my heart. For some reason my books are selling right now. Don’t know what I’m doing. I write under a pen name, so this is a mystery to me. My pen name is Katt Anderson, if you’re interested.
We need to talk about our books, but not cram them down someone’s throat. How can you do it? Be on blogs. Don’t be afraid to ask anyone and everyone to be a guest on their blog. If you’re a member of American Christian Fiction Writers, go on the loop and ask to be on blogs. I think you’ll be surprised at the responses you get. They have a promotional section. Find it and ask! You will never get a yes until you ask. This puts you in different circles of readers/writers.
Be on podcasts. I’m always looking for someone to be on my podcast. If you have published a book, I’d love to have you on my podcast. I want all authors at Mantle Rock Publishing to be on my podcast and my blog. I’ve not worked it like I should, but I am beginning to get back in the groove.
We’ll talk more about this subject later. We can never talk too much.
