Recently I’ve been blasted with comments from people who have objected to something one author wrote. Our company has gotten a bad hit because he wrote something that happened in Canada. I live in Kentucky, the southern part, and know very little about Canadian news. I don’t know any of the details, only what was written.
I’ve never made a political stand on my website, but maybe it is time to do it right now. One thing I believe is that God is in control. I base this on Romans 13:1-7, Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
God is in authority, whether we like it or not. We must obey the laws of the land, because God has placed them there. Not with his hands, but working through people. We have laws on how to enter the United States. These laws were put in place to keep from happening what is happening now. You may not agree with me, but the Bible backs me up in the verses mentioned above. We have nothing to fear if we obey God’s law.
I have been called a racist, but I am the lest racist person you’ll ever meet. I grew up in a mixed-race community. In fact we were the only white people on the road for a long time. Our next door neighbors and the neighbors across the road from us were all black. Growing up I knew nothing about prejudice. We visited with our neighbors, and they visited with us. Today I love all races. I hug blacks as well as whites. I have had friends with yellow and brown skin. God looks at our hearts, not the color of our skin.
For those of you who said you won’t buy books from us because of several comments by someone who is an author of ours, you are going to miss a lot of good books. I feel for you and the hatred and prejudice in your hearts. I pray you will learn to let go of this hatred. All countries have a lot of problems right now. Lashing out at someone will not solve the problem. We need to understand and see both sides of the situation. At this time, I’m praying for America. I love the USA!
