How much are you marketing your book? What are you doing to let people know you have a book published? How many people have you told this week about your book? These are things every author needs to talk about.
Let’s look at the first question. How much are you marketing your book? Every author should be marketing each day on their book. Do something each day to bring a little attention to you as an author or to your book. Write on Facebook. Ask a question on Facebook so people will recognize your name. Mention your book as much as you can. Talk to other authors. When you write an email, have your name and your book title on the signature. That tells them you’re an author.
When I was in Direct Sales, we were told to mention our product to people in a conversation. One thing I do is wear a necklace with the picture of my book cover on it. You’d be amazed how many people will comment on it. The other day in the doctor’s office someone said they felt like they’d met a celebrity. I’m definitely not a celebrity, but it gave me a chance to talk about my books. Always carry business cards with you. When someone is talking about the necklace, I hand them a business card.
The last question is one we all must think about. How many people have you told this week about your book? Do you blog? If you do, be sure to tell someone about your book, or mention you have a new one coming out soon. Facebook is a good place to tell others about your books. They don’t have to see your face when you tell them, so it’s a little easier. Don’t be afraid to tell people about your book. Be proud that you are one person who got your book published.
Oh! Did I tell you I have a book coming out in June. This is a new fun series, Nothin’ Shady Ever Happens In Shady Valley, Daisy’s Story. It is basically finished, and I’m editing it right now. I’ll say more about it closer to the time it releases. It’s a fun book about a real place, a beautiful place.
Have a blessed day.
