I often receive the strangest realizations in the strangest places. One day I was cleaning the bathtub when I had a brilliant idea. I had found the perfect place.
Let me back up a little. I am an only child, so I have become very used to my privacy, or as some people call it, my personal space. Now that I am a mother and I have been married for over 30 years, I am not as private about things as I once was. But there is one thing is I am still very private about: prayers.
When I go to the Lord in prayer, I want it to just be the two of us; nobody else listening. I know lots of people who have a prayer closet or a small place to go for their prayer time. To be honest, it was hard to find a place in the house where I felt comfortable enough to do that. And when I am especially troubled about things, I pray out loud.
While I was cleaning the tub one day, the realization hit me. You know, it was one of those “Whoa!” moments. I was on my knees and in a very private place. First, that was a great position in which to pray. Second, when you are in the bathroom with the door shut and locked, you are left alone.
So, in the mornings before I brush my teeth or put on make-up, I get on my knees at the tub and prayer my heart out.
If you are writing for the Lord, you especially need that private one on one time with the Lord. It will recharge you and empower you. As for me, I always pray for wisdom and guidance in writing His words.
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-19 (KJV)
If you ask me to pray for you, don’t be surprised if you receive a text or a message from me with a tub and praying hands emojis.

Do Something Dangerous
I am a shower pray-er. I love having that quiet uninterrupted time to just pore out my heart and sometimes tears to my Heavenly father. And thanks to my husband, I almost always have that time to myself. For some reason, my brain remembers so many more on my “prayer list” when I’m in the shower than when I’m in bed with the lights out. Go figure. 🙂 But I love the idea of just stopping beside the tub to pray, too. I’d never thought of that.
Yes! Just stop to pray wherever you are!
