This will be my last post for the year, and I’m wishing all of you the best holiday season ever! I love the season and the music. I’ll play some Celtic holiday songs while I work today.
December is a month we don’t rush to get a book out. I love the relaxed atmosphere that this little repreve gives all of us. Since most of the time our books start being published in February, we have a breather. This year we do have one coming out in January. It’s one I’ve been working on for a couple of years. I wish I could write faster, but with what we do in publishing, I can’t.
Daisy’s Story, the first book in the series, Nothin’ Shady Ever Happens In Shady Valley. I am so excited about this book. It is set in a real community, Shady Valley, TN. If you ask me where it is, I’ll tell you, “It’s across the mountain from Bristol, TN.” It’s also across the mountain from Elizabethton, TN and Abington, VA. It is a valley surrounded by three mountains. I love it because it is not commercial. One store at the crossroads and one restaurant at the crossroads. Everyone either writes a check for purchases or pays with cash. I love that!
This is my husband’s home community. No air conditioner needed in the summer. It is cool with a breeze blowing softly. In the winter the snow comes across the mountains like a curtain. Very peaceful.
We also have a full 2020, and we’re scheduling in 2021. After this year we will no longer publish fantasy/speculative. We will also limit the manuscripts to 80,000 words or less.
Everyone have a great Holiday!
