Laurean Brooks lives in rural northwest Tennessee with her flea-marketing/antique-hunting husband, two labs and a cat. She writes inspirational romance with heart, humor, and unpredictable characters. Chivalrous heroes stand by to rescue their ladies from a plethora of disasters along the way. Her sassy heroines are familiar with the taste of their own shoe leather. “Foot-in-mouth” disease prevails throughout her stories.
Ms. Brooks’ over-active imagination wrought trouble in fifth grade when she was assigned to write about, “The Adventures of Columbus.” Laurean’s version should have been titled, “The “Mis”-adventures of Columbus.” Evidently her teacher did not approve, because after Laurean read the comical story to the class, she demanded a complete rewrite.

About the book:
When Carrie Franklin’s struggle with a drunk leaves him unconscious or perhaps dead, she flees. Forgetting the promise she made to her now deceased mother, she catches the train to Abilene, Texas, leaving her feckless brother behind.
Carrie shares a seat with a young woman who confides she’s a Mail Order Bride en route to meet her fiance. Molly’s friend Katy Davis had planned to be part of this adventure. But without warning she changed her mind, sensing something was not on the up and up with the ranch owner to whom she was promised.
When Molly learns Carrie will disembark in Abilene, she asks a favor. “Please explain Katy’s absence to Josh Kramer, the man Katy promised to wed. It would be awful if he waited at the depot for hours.”
Through a misunderstanding and Carrie’s empty purse, she finds herself beside Josh headed toward the Kramer Ranch under the assumed name Katy Davis.
When Josh’s aunt reveals a secret, Carrie realizes she cannot reveal her true identity without getting Aunt Em in hot water.
Though suspicious of Katy’s intentions Josh finds himself falling in love. He was burned once and swore, “Never again.” Then he sees Katy in a moonlight conversation with his new ranch hand and suspects the worst. Are Blake and Katy scheming to get the Kramer ranch?
Carrie loves Josh and wants to tell him the truth, but fears that revealing her true identity will destroy their relationship.
Did Carrie kill the drunk? Is a posse trailing her? Will Josh forgive her? Only through God’s grace can Carrie and Josh experience forgiveness and true happiness.
